Standard Mediterranean diet keeps the brain young

    From Star Online:

Mediterranean diet keeps the brain young

Lots of vegetables, olive oil, fish and occasionally a glass of wine - this seems not only provides food for a longer life. It also reduces the risk of developing Alzheimer's.

The so-called Mediterranean diet not only prevents cardiovascular disease, but also reduces the risk for Alzheimer's disease. The American researchers conclude from the results of a study of more than 2200 participants, they observed an average of four years. Their conclusion: The subjects that have little meat and dairy products, but it took a lot of fish, fruit, vegetables and grain products, and some alcohol to be, reduced their risk of illness by almost 40 percent compared to those that gave up the diet. Nikolaos Scarmeas report on their work from Columbia University in New York and his colleagues in the journal Annals of Neurology.

In the Mediterranean diet is not a diet in the traditional sense, but a basic diet, as is typical for countries around the Mediterranean. Healthy olive oil plays a key role as well as plenty of fresh vegetables, tomatoes, garlic, fish, bread and some red wine. The positive effect of such a diet on the cardiovascular system has now been demonstrated in a number of studies. For a long time, experts also suspect that the healthy ingredients and the absence of animal fats and proteins affect the risk of dementia-positive. Characteristic of Alzheimer's protein deposits in the brain.

Standard AW: Mediterranean diet keeps the brain young

    Hi Michael

Have looked at the site and start to dream of grad to South!
Degrees in the summer is easy for me to live in the Mediterranean style!

I understand some but not: 1 On the Mediterranean, they also eat animal protein and especially almost always white bread! I have nothing against a fine cheese!

On crabs and clams, but I stand not at all!
    Fish already.

2nd I like to drink wine ansich, but only one glass when sprayed available!
I have trouble with red wine, because it causes me a histamine release, so I need more anti-histamine to my pollen and house dust allergy.

But tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, olive oil and garlic ... I'm there! Get well! Lieber Gruss Artemisia
    Best regards

... ... ... ... The population is to be guided, at least five portions fruit and vegetable growing program in a total quantity of 400-650 per day to himself. guarantee a healthy, wholesome nutrition.
proper nutrition is the basis for health, well being and performance... ....... You get in the last time to hear again and again ... ... it can protect against food-related diseases in old age, such as from overweight, high blood pressure, diabetes, or arteriosclerosis... If I stumble over such lines, she is in me every time the question ,........ how to do it because ...... ... ..., do you have experience with it? ... If so, handles like her ... ... ..5 times a day fruit and vegetables ... .... I can do when it comes up 3 times.
I eat according to the local habits (Mediterranean diet). and take no between-to me.

Standard AW: Mediterranean diet keeps the brain young

    Hi,

if there is something to which I have set the search for universal answers, then there is the connection diet and health. What is healthy for one, may be harmful for another.
I believe there is no food that is not touted as a healthful side, from a different angle then denounced as harmful to health.
I have found the solution for my page that I eat it, which I have just hungry. I do not at all as the taste of alcohol. Therefore believe that this for me, not even in small portions "will be healthy."
I also like nothing that tastes bitter. Bitter in relation to health promotion is associated with the promotion of bile in combination. Perhaps my body is a "more" to bile not just use.
Did the doctors book of the "healing power of our food." Since then I can get information on what food is appropriate for which disease. If nothing but eat, if I had to do with overcoming an inner repugnance.

    Best regards, Ulrike

    @ Ulrike,
....... The relationship between diet and health, is in many ways very important.

... .... But the above question from me, I will be made in person, often ... .... and I can not answer with conviction.

I also think that no one can be clairvoyant. But I'm sometimes a reverse path. If someone does not like certain things, this may be a clue. Similarly, when someone takes certain things to excess themselves. I think it is most important, to trust his own inner voice. If I'm hungry for fruit, I should eat it. If I'm not hungry on fruit, which is also already have a reason and I would hineinzwingen me, then according to the motto: it's so healthy.

    Best regards, Ulrike
